1,000 Girls Get Respect
Thanks to nationwide donors, 1,000 girls who attended the Bay Area Girl Summit received a free copy of Respect.
Hosted by Girls For A Change (GFC), the summit inspires girls to become social change agents in their communities and the world. GFC teams have: educated their peers about dating violence, lobbied California lawmakers for immigrants' rights, mentored younger girls to keep them out of gangs, created after-school programs, and more.
As coaches and volunteers for GFC, we have seen firsthand how this organization changes girls’ lives. Girls who were once afraid to speak up in small groups now give presentations before large crowds that include politicians and CEOs. Girls who once felt like victims in their neighborhoods now fund and run anti-gang and self-defense programs. And girls who once felt like no one cared what they thought have made the news with their innovative campaigns.
"Being able to give RESPECT to the 1,000 girls who attended our Annual Girl Summit was such an amazing experience. The girls felt so special and valued to receive a book about them and their experiences. Courtney & Andrea are such a gift to the world of girls!" -Whitney Smith, Co-CEO, Girls For A Change
