Respect Rally
PROGRAM: 1 day event with 24 sessions worth of of follow-up activities to keep it going!
Picture a gymnasium filled with hundreds of teen girls, sitting in circles, listening intently to each other, doing engaging group activities, sharing their deepest feelings and hopes for themselves, and working together to design a new world where all girls are respected and respect each other. Picture each girl walking away from the day empowered to boost self-respect, sisterhood and social change in her life (and our world). This is what happens when girls attend a Respect Rally. Check out the Respect Rally video and info page!
Assemblies & Workshops
PROGRAM: 1- to 4-hour workshops; 15 min. to 1-hour keynotes
PRICE: $500 - 950 (depending on workshop length and geographic proximity)
Courtney is available to keynote conferences and to conduct workshops and assemblies. Her workshops are interactive and intimate. Courtney’s approach is to share her personal story of how she got on the road to respect after a tough childhood and many painful mistakes. After sharing her own experiences, she listens to girls about the issues that concern or hurt them the most. Finally, she empowers girls through skill-building activities how to boost their self-respect, make sisterhood a important value in their lives, and to take action to positively change the world for all girls.
Break-Out Workshop Topics
The Respect Connect
Respect is connected to everything: your feelings about yourself, your choices, your relationships and your future. In this workshop, girls learn how to connect self-respect to their life's purpose. They learn about the Respect Basics — and they partner with other girls to create a vision for their future that is based on self-respect. First presented at the TX, PA, and MA Governor’s Conferences for Women, this workshop is a proven hit with girls around the country!
Future Self
Girls say one of their favorite activities from our Respect Rally is our powerful Future Self meditation. Under the guidance of a creative visualization, girls journey deep within to glimpse their future and connect to their goals, dreams, and possibilities. After the meditation, we'll engage in meaningful journaling prompts, buddy coaching, and group shares to lock in the learning. For an extra dose of inspiration, Courtney shares her own story of realizing her Future Self and how it enabled her to pursue her passion.
My Body, Myself
A big part of self-respect is loving—and accepting—your body. This workshop brings to light the forces that can often make a girl disconnect from her body, disrespect her health, or even hate her body (and the person who lives there). With eye-opening exercises and discussion, we’ll show girls how to identify toxic influences that can chip away at body image. Girls also walk away with the ability to make healthy choices that support their values and goals, and most importantly, how to love themselves (in mind, body, and soul!).
The New Popular
It’s time for a respect revolution — no overthrow necessary! In this innovative workshop, girls learn to work together to create a sense of sisterhood at school and in the world at large. We’ll address the roots of issues like name-calling, rumors, and sexual harassment so that girls know how to deal in the face of disrespect. Girls will also get the tools to rise above drama and transform friends into foes—and most importantly, become their own best friends. Girls leave feeling supported, hopeful, and empowered to spread the “New Popular.”
Change Your World
Every girl has a leader within, and this unique social change workshop is designed to bring it to life! Grouped in powerful pods, girls will create a plan to make a difference in the community working side-by-side with other girls. We’ll provide the tools (and confidence boost) for girls to lead meetings, get organized around a cause, plan a campaign for change, and make their voices heard with politicians and decision-makers. We’ll also explore how the tenets of self-respect and sisterhood play into social change.
